More on DST

When did oracle start being ran by a bunch of morons?

This DST patch is simply a joke. There must be a punch line in here someplace, because there should be no way that a company the size and past capability of oracle can screw something this simple up so many times and on so many levels.

One of Oracle's marketing slogans

Oracle Is The Information Company

I guess only if your information is not time stamped.

What a crock... SQL Server simply looks just a little better now, but I am sure after the next 9 days of being awake at work patching databases again, I won't remember I said that.

Herod,
If it is any consolidation, you are not alone. We just patched our E-Biz environment and found that there were new patches released this Monday. So we have to do it again *sigh*

At this stage, we are running out of time...jeez, maybe we don't really need to patch if all your systems are in one timezone :o

We feel the same way.

Shut down all of the databases, let the OS do the time switch and deal with remote possibility that some timestamp someplace might be an hour out.

But I am sure some thing in oracle someplace will throw a ORA-0600 and crash pmon and/or smon and then RMAN won't know what time it is so it won't restore before noon last August or something like that.
